We are a specialist platform engineering team with one focus: script-based platforms. PHPfox, SocialEngine, WordPress, Magento, Joomla, Drupal and 100+ more. No React agencies. No generalists. Just deep, honest, complex engineering on the platforms others walk away from.
AllScript Lab was founded in 2003 with one conviction: script-based platforms deserve specialist engineers, not generalists who treat them as a side skill. At the time, PHPfox was emerging, SocialEngine was new, and Magento didn't exist yet. We grew with these platforms — learning their internals as they were being written, not after the fact.
Over two decades we've watched the industry label these platforms "legacy" — while PHPfox shipped MetaFox with a modern Laravel and React architecture, SocialEngine reached version 7, WordPress grew to power over 40% of the web, and Magento evolved into Adobe Commerce at enterprise scale. Not one of the platforms we support has been abandoned. Every single one ships active releases, maintains a growing community, and powers millions of live production sites. We stayed because we recognized what others missed: these platforms are not dying — they are thriving, and depth on a living platform is the real competitive moat.
Today, the clients who find us are usually at the end of a long search. They've been told "it can't be done" or "you need to replatform" by two or three developers before us. We've heard that story thousands of times. And we've solved the problem every single time.
Twenty years of staying focused while the industry chased trends.
AllScript Lab started with a clear conviction: specialize exclusively in script-based platforms. First projects on early PHP community scripts and osCommerce.
Among the first engineering teams to go deep on PHPfox 3.x and Magento 1. Built module and extension frameworks as these platforms matured.
SocialEngine became a core specialty. Deep Zend Framework internals work — hooks, Engine_Api, DB mappers, task scheduler. Began white-label partnerships with agencies worldwide.
40% of work becomes white-label. Agencies across Europe, North America, and Australia using us as their invisible engineering depth for script platform projects.
PHPfox's successor MetaFox launches — we go deep on Laravel + React architecture. Stripe Connect integrations, crowdfunding platforms, and complex payment pipelines become a specialty.
20+ years in. 100+ platforms. The complexity we handle today — full crowdfunding systems, multi-vendor marketplaces, affiliate engines, caching architectures — would have been unimaginable in 2003. The focus hasn't changed.
These are not corporate values written for a pitch deck. They are the actual operating principles we've held since 2003.
If we can't do the job, we say so. If you need someone else, we tell you that too — even when it costs us the project. Short-term honesty builds long-term relationships.
We solve at the architecture level, not the workaround level. Code that lasts, that survives platform updates, that the next developer can read. No black boxes.
When an agency trusts us with their client work, that trust is non-negotiable. In 20+ years, zero NDA violations. Zero client approaches. Zero conflicts of interest. Ever.
The harder the problem, the more invested we are in solving it. Complexity is the reason clients come to us, not the reason we decline work.
We deliberately do not work on React, Next.js, or general web development. Depth on fewer platforms beats shallow knowledge on many. This has been true since 2003.
We do not take on work to collect a deposit and under-deliver. If we say we'll build it, we build it. If the scope changes, we tell you immediately — not at delivery.
No project management theatre. No weekly status calls about status calls. Direct, technical, honest communication from day one.
No forms that ask for your budget before we've understood your problem. You describe what you need — platform, what's broken or what you want built, rough timeline. We read it carefully.
Before we estimate anything, we ask the questions that actually matter — what SE version, what payment gateway, what's the existing module structure. Generic questions mean generic estimates.
We tell you what we can build, how long it will take, and what it costs. If it's beyond what you've described, we say that. If it's simpler than you thought, we say that too.
Work broken into testable milestones. You see it, test it, and approve it before we move forward. No disappearing for 8 weeks and surprising you at the end.
Not projections. Not goals. Actual numbers from 20+ years of work.
We will tell you what we can and cannot do. We will tell you if someone else is a better fit. We will not take your money to under-deliver.
Everything we build is engineered properly — within the platform's native patterns, documented, and built to survive updates. No bolt-on hacks.
If you are an agency or freelancer using us as your backend team, your clients' details never leave our team. Zero violations in 20+ years.
The harder the problem, the more seriously we take it. We have never walked away from a technically possible engineering challenge.
You talk to the engineer doing the work, not a project manager passing messages. No translation layers between your requirements and the person building them.
Tell us what you're working on. We'll give you an honest technical assessment within 24 hours.
No sales pitch. Honest assessment. Clear roadmap.
